The Richmond Olympic Oval was home to the speed skating events and anti-doping labs in the 2010 Winter Olympics. It won an award in innovation from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada for its unique use of wood killed by pine beetles in its ceiling. After the Olympics, the building was converted to public multipurpose use and hosts both public recreational activities and sporting tournaments.
